I’m happy to say that being in charge of the sales and marketing of Cinder is my dream job. I’ve always been interested in science, the outdoors, agriculture and communicating with people but I never thought that I could find a job that so perfectly combines all of those interests. I knew that my wife, Melanie, could make great wine but all the rest that it takes to start and run a company has been a wonderfully enriching experience and an adventure. I’m blessed to have this opportunity and to have met so many great people along the way who have helped us succeed. Come visit us soon!
What do you do at Cinder?
I observe what my wife and her team creates and then I try to express that liquid poetry through everything our company touches.
What is your favorite part of working in the Idaho wine industry?
I get to tell the story of the “missing jewel” in the crown of Northwest Wines. Idaho is the late comer to the party but our quality is on par with those of Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. I love to hear stories from people describing when they first realized that our wines are for real!
What wine would you bring with you to a desert island?
I’d like Tempranillo and a solar-powered refrigerator please.
If you had a different profession, what would it be?
What is your favorite book?
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
The Fool’s Progress by Edward Abbey
What is the thing you love most about Boise?
In the summer, doing a flip into the ice cold waters of the Boise river…
…in the winter, surfing the mountain at Bogus Basin.
